My six week, 2024 maritime loop expedition has laid the ground work for me to refocus my many passions into a more manageable life style option. One I can move forward with and look forward to.
2024...Overcoaster
Firstly, the toys, my electric bike, paddle board, and kayak are history. They are just too much...too much weight, too much to take out and put away, too much to secure. So, I have sold all that. Simple hiking, both wilderness and urban will allow me to achieve my 5 to 7 thousand paces per day. That is more than enough exercise for healthful living.
Secondly, I want sculpting to be front and center, both as a need for self expression and as a way to make all this economically viable; gas to get wherever I want to go, repairs along the way, and being able to occasionally savor the local culinary delights all costs money.
I will convert my Mini Cooper Paceman/Northern Teardrop Ultra Lite combo into a low-profile travel van like the Ford Transit Nugget shown. It fits in a regular 18 foot city parking spot. The van will provide safe travel and easy living on the road and handle my limited city driving. Compact and fuel efficient travel vans are growing in popularity in Europe and a number of highly efficient models are offered by Ford, Mercedes, and Volkswagen...with all new designs scheduled for 2025; in diesel, gas, hybrid, and all electric. Hopefully, at least one of them will be on offer in North America.
2025...MY SCULPTURE WAGON!
Using after-market attachments I will Integrate my sculpting tools in an imaginative and efficient manner. Instead of sports gear I will carry a folding stone-sculping table, a generator, an electric stone chisel, a light-weight clay-sculpting stand, and a wet table for cutting, shaping, and polishing microcrystalline quartz. Of course I will install at least 200 watts of solar on the roof and enough li-ion battery storage to run a wi-fi hot spot and fuel my On Aluminum design work,
I will retain a loft as a home-base in Quebec City, but for an increasing number of long weekends and some months each year I want to set up my sculpting tables al fesco...facing the sea, or work out of a screen tent in the wilderness. I have a lot of work to complete over the next nine months to make the Sculpture Wagon a reality, so, I best get busy!
